Sexual harassment
Sexual harassment is any form of unwanted and unwelcome sexual behaviour that causes humiliation, embarrassment and/or fear to the person subjected to it.
It is particularly important to be aware of this in relationships where the balance of power is significantly tilted, such as between a teacher and a student or a manager and an employee.
- Sexual comments or jokes
- Displaying images or drawings of a sexual nature
- Sending emails, text messages or similar communications containing sexual content
- Other inappropriate behaviour, including unwanted sexual advances or physical contact
- Any form of sexual abuse
- Tell someone you trust about what is happening.
- You can seek support from your faculty or division's HR manager or the University's Human Resources Division.
- Write down where and when the incident occurred and how you responded.
- As a staff member, you should also report any harassment you witness.
Staff and students can report gender-based and sexual harassment through Ugla.
