Fire safety

Fire-safety essentials are covered, including the first response to imminent danger and how to prioritise actions. The course looks at simple steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of fire and accidents. It covers what fire is, the main types of fire, how fire spreads and which materials are most likely to ignite. Participants will learn about the main types of fire extinguishers, where they are located, which extinguishers are available in the workplace, how to use them, and related topics. The course also covers smoke detectors, how to respond to alarms from smoke detectors and fire-alarm systems, and how buildings are evacuated. Emphasis is placed on the importance of proper fire-safety measures and what fire safety actually involves.
